I’ve blogged before about the Hull Fruit Market district on the waterside of the city of Hull, but as I visited it recently I’ll blog again.

I started at the Wrecking Ball, a venue which is not in the Fruit Market but is well worth a visit. Remarkably it functions as an independent cafe, music retailer, art gallery, arts bookshop and small scale music venue all at the same time. And it does them all well!

Many of the buildings in the Fruit Market are adorned by street art of a very high quality which adds to the aesthetic of this once thriving fruit and vegetables wholesale district, now reborn as a premier arts, culture and entertainment centre in the waterside centre of Hull city.

There are crafts and arts shops where visitors can peruse items which may take their fancy.

Sprinkled among the craft shops, entertainment venues and eateries are further example of professional quality street art.

I remember the Fruit Market being partially derelict twenty years ago. Now the picture is transformed with fashionable town houses and apartments where there were once run down buildings. I would live there for sure.

After enjoying food, drinks and possibly entertainment in the Fruit Market a pleasant stroll along the waterfront of the Hull Marina may be in order.
If you have not visited the Hull Fruit Market then I recommend it as a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
