Oil painting is one of the oldest known art mediums. It is also a medium which can pass the test of time. With careful preservation oil on canvas paintings can be passed from one generation to the next, indeed one century to the next.
I find it easier to get the effects I want with oils because of their power; linseed oil and good quality pigments make layering of paint possible and thus transparency and other effects.
I like powerful colours and geometric patterns as you can see below.
