Luxmuralis light show at Beverley Minster

A projection of giant animated cogs - Luxmuralis at Beverley Minster

On Valentine's Day 2024 my wife and I attended the 'Luxmuralis - Illuminating Art' event at Beverley Minster. This is a multimedia show with an audio discussion of the arts and in particular painting against a backdrop of spectacular moving light projections of famous images drawn from the arts.

The projected moving light show was constantly changing. Below we see the next stage of the giant animated cogs where some have changed colour to blue.

Slightly different shows were projected in different parts of Beverley Minster. Below we see some patterns drawn from European decorative art.

Below we see a quite different sort of pattern and an abrupt change of colour.

Below we see a neo-Medieval image probably from the Pre-Raphaelites.

Below we see a series of portrait images from British painting of the eighteenth century.

The Pre-Raphaelites are seen again in this famous image taken from a painting called 'Proserpine' by Dante Gabriel Rosetti.

Finally we see an image taken from Vincent Van Gogh with his hallmark bright areas of colour.

The audio discussions were fascinating acting and I caught a narrative about Joshua Reynolds then Titian, woven into a tale of British painting in the eighteenth century.

Luxmuralis was a fascinating experience for all the family and a signpost to what is possible with some artistic license and modern multimedia technology. It has now left Beverley Minster but may come to a venue near you! My advice is to catch it!
